Anos mais tarde, Silvano abriu uma loja de armas no Rio de Janeiro e se tornou um comerciante conhecido na cidade. Foi nesse período que conheceu o policial e herói Homem Sapo. O que começou como uma relação profissional rapidamente se transformou em uma grande amizade.
Tudo mudou em um dia comum de trabalho em sua loja. Enquanto organizava alguns produtos, uma misteriosa lagartixa entrou em contato com ele de uma forma inexplicável. Pouco tempo depois, Silvano começou a desenvolver habilidades extraordinárias, como velocidade sobre-humana, reflexos incríveis e a capacidade de escalar paredes como uma verdadeira lagartixa.
Decidido a usar seus novos poderes para proteger os inocentes, Silvano assumiu a identidade de Velho Lagartixa. Com sua experiência de vida, sua coragem e seus poderes especiais, ele se tornou um dos maiores aliados do Homem Sapo no combate ao crime.
